FOR ANNUAL FLOWERS
Work fertilizer into soil at the rate of 1 1/2 lbs. (2 3/4 cups) per 100 sq. ft. (10 ft. by 10 ft. area) during final preparation of plant beds. During the growing season, make additional applications at the rate of 1/2 lb. (1 1/2 cups) per 100 sq. ft. every eight weeks.
FOR ESTABLISHED PERENNIAL FLOWERS AND SHRUBS
Apply evenly in early spring at the rate of 1 1/2 lbs. (2 3/4 cups) per 100 sq. ft. Make supplemental applications of 2/3 lb. (1 2/3 cups) per 100 sq. ft. every six weeks. Stop feeding one month before frost.
FOR BULBS AND TUBES - BED PLANTING
Work fertilizer into topsoil at rate of 1 2/3 lbs. (3 1/3 cups) per 100 sq. ft. of bed before planting.
FOR ROW PLANTING
Apply fertilizer in trench or row at the rate of 1 1/4 lbs. per 100 linear feet. Mix fertilizer in soil at bottom of trench and cover with approximately one-half inch of soil before planting bulbs.
FOR VEGETABLE GARDENS
Before turning soil, broadcast 1 1/2 lbs. (2 3/4 cups) of fertilizer per 100 sq. ft. (10 ft. by 10 ft.) or after turning, work 1 1/2 lbs. of fertilizer per 100 sq. ft. into soil to a depth of 4 to 5 inches before planting. For vegetables planted in rows, add 2/3 lb. per 100 sq. ft. of row in trenches two inches deeper than
the seed or plant and two inches to the side of the row. Long growing crops (tomatoes, corn, carrots, cabbage) should also be side dressed with 2/3 lb. fertilizer per 100 ft. of row at six weeks intervals.
FOR TREES
Apply monthly at the rate of 3.3 lbs. per 1000 sq. ft. and directly under the drip line of trees.
FOR NEW LAWNS AS A STARTER FERTILIZER
Apply to the seedbed at the rate of 5.8 lbs. per 1,000 sq. ft. For best results apply with a spreader and work into soil before seeding. For turf applications, bag covers up to 5,690 sq. ft. Feed again with a lawn maintenance fertilizer when grass is at least 3 inches high. Do not apply near water, storm drains or drainage ditches. Do not apply if heavy rain is expected. Apply this product to your lawn or garden, and sweep any product that lands on the driveway, sidewalk, or street back on to your lawn or garden.

government to see if there are local regulations for fertilizer use. Do not apply to frozen turf.
In Florida
A soil test is recommended prior to planting grass. Do not apply fertilizer prior to planting grass. For seeded, plugged or sprigged grasses, wait until there is a uniform turf cover before application (the length of time required to achieve this will vary based on the time of year, environmental conditions and location in state). For sodded and new grass apply at the rate of 2.1 lbs per 1,000 sq. ft. Application of a nitrogen based fertilizer with zero phosphate is
recommended after 30 days to ensure continuing growth. Do not exceed 0.25 lb P2O5 per application or 0.5 lb P2O5 per year. Applications should be made during the summer, spring, or fall seasons. No more than 2 applications annually.
In Maryland
Apply at the rate of 2.1 lbs per 1000 sq. ft. This bag covers up to 15,714 sq. ft. Do not exceed 0.25 lb P2O5 per application or 0.5 lb P2O5 per year. Not for use on established lawns. Apply as a starter fertilizer only during the first growing season.
Note: Supplemental applications of lawn fertilizer are needed to achieve a minimum 0.9 lb nitrogen per 1,000 sq. ft.
