How much do I need?

If unsure about the size of your lawn, general guidelines are that a typical 1/4 acre lot with home, driveway, walkway and landscaping requires a 5,000 sq. ft bag. A 1/2 acre lot with a home and landscaping features typically requires a 10,000 sq. ft bag. For larger properties from 1 to 2 acres or more, you will need to estimate the amount of additional grass area and include these in your coverage calculation.

  • Description

The best spring fertilizer choice for crabgrass control.

    • Prevents crabgrass and other grass and broadleaf weeds (as listed on label) up to 4 months, when applied prior to germination in lawns. It also provides post-emergence control of seedling crabgrass for up to 4 weeks after it germinates.
    • Extended time release feeding of nitrogen greens into summer without excess growth.
    • Crabgrass is an annual weed, meaning it reproduces by seed and it must be treated each spring. If you keep crabgrass seeds from germinating, you keep crabgrass from growing. Therefore, annual application is recommended to established lawns to keep crabgrass under control.
    • Knowing when to apply crabgrass preventer is one of the keys to success in ridding lawns of this pesky weed. Crabgrass seeds begin to germinate when the soil temperature consistently reaches 55 to 60 degrees Fahrenheit. For nature’s visual cue - this coincides approximately with blooming of forsythia and lilac bushes. Since most pre-emergent crabgrass preventers kill crabgrass only before the seedlings emerge, this gives homeowners a tiny window of opportunity. With the GreenView Fairway Formula formulation – you’ll have an additional 4 weeks to get it down, and still be effective.

  • Application Tips

    Best time to apply:

    Apply in spring.

For best performance; apply within a few days of mowing. The most effective weed control occurs when the product is activated by rainfall or irrigation, so if rain isn’t in the forecast, water it in thoroughly.

Can be applied to the following turfgrasses when used as directed:

Cool Season Turfgrasses: Creeping Bentgrass, Fine fescues, Kentucky Bluegrass, Perennial Ryegrass, Tall Fescues. Warm Season Turfgrasses: Bahiagrass, Bermudagrass, Buffalograss, Carpetgrass, Centipedegrass, St. Augustine grass, Zoysiagrass.

For post-emergent crabgrass control, apply when crabgrass is small (3-4 leaf). It will not control large tillered crabgrass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Simply the best I have been using Leabanon slow-release fertilizer since I bought my first house in Maryland in 1987. There was a former greens keeper that had a radio show called Garden of Eden on local radio. He made arrangements for a local garden supply shop to stock it for purchase by the public. After I started using it, my neighbors all told their lawn service companies they wanted their lawns to look like mine. They couldn't! I have been using it ever since using Jack's advice - cut high (3+ inches) and water deep. I now live in New Jersey and every time I am outside working on my landscaping somebody stops by and asks me the secret to my lawn. This is a GREAT product.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fertilizer I have been on this fertilizer plan since 2016, 4 orders total, 2 spring, 2 fall. These are the 2017 spring photos of front yard. Fescue grass, cut at highest setting (4 in). I use some supplemental fertilization like starter fertilizer if overseeding in fall, then follow up a few weeks later with Greenview fall fertilizer. Also early spring I might use Ringer Lawn Restore II fertilizer then, follow up a few weeks later with Greenview spring fertilizer. This plan seems to be working great! Neighbors are impressed, they use lawn service, but don't get as good of a result.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Got rid of winter annual weeds I use this formula every spring. I have little to no crabgrass. But what I really love about this product is when you use it in place of your fall fertilizer and it gets rid of those hard to eradicate winter annuals, speedwell, purple nettle, Henbit, chickweed, etc. The only place I have any of these weeds is along the edge of my driveway. Absolutely none in the middle of my lawn. I have been fighting corn speedwell for years. This has been nothing short of a miracle for me! I am still working on the annual bluegrass (poaannua), but there is even less of it. I think after one more fall application of this, I might actually be able to go back to applying the fall lawn food.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Fewer Steps, Better Results I have been using Greenview several years now. I will admit I don't always take the best care of my lawn; therefore, you could call Greenview "forgiveness" for my shortcomings. In only 2 steps, I get even, not overly rapid, green-up and growth without stressing my lawn in the summer, and it always comes back strong in the spring. I will admit I wish they would bring back the late winter nitrogen application, which I thought helped with early spring even more, but what is offered now is as good as anything I have seen for cool season grass.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best slow release fertilizer I have been using Greenview Fertilizer for years. The slow release is top notch. The yard never grows obscenely fast after applying, but continues to give excellent greening for at least 60 days. I highly recommend this fertilizer. It is child's play to "outdo" the neighbors who predominantly use "professionals" to do the work for them.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Really Works! I've been using the Spring formula with crabgrass prevention for two years now and I am very pleased with the product. In early Spring I have the greenest lawn in the neighborhood followed by a Summer and Fall free from crabgrass. What's not to like with that combination?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best fertilizer on the market! This is the only fertilizer my husband will use. He only applies it in the spring and fall. Our neighbors have all commented on how beautiful our yard looks.
