Lawn lost its luster? If your lawn looks washed out, it could be suffering from a lack of nitrogen. Lawns can lose their luster in the summer for several reasons, but the most common one is a lack of nitrogen. Nitrogen could be lacking because fertilizer was not watered in well when it was applied earlier in the season, not enough was applied, or it was a quick release rather than a slow release nitrogen. Excessive rainfall and irrigation can also dilute the nitrogen, causing lawns to turn a pale green. If your lawn looks pale and it’s been at least four weeks since you applied a fertilizer, consider an application of Perk™ to green up the grass, using a lawn spreader. Perk is also a great way to green up the lawn for a special event at your home. For best results, apply two weeks before the event for a deep green lawn. Rich green lawn © Purdue University An application of Perk returns your lawn to the rich green color you want. Perk, which lasts for about six weeks, is a specially formulated mixture of slow-release iron and sulfur. It greens up the lawn without producing the excessive top growth that adds to your mowing duties. Perk also improves the cells and the root structure of grass plants, but does not burn the lawn. Perk is particularly helpful in hot summer when lawns can get stressed. However, it will only green up an actively growing lawn. It will not revive a dormant lawn. The lawn must be dry to the touch before applying. Perk needs to be watered in after application. Ingredients in Perk will stain concrete, pavers, brick and other hard surfaces as well as clothing. Sweep granules from hard surfaces. Do not wash them off. If it gets on your clothes, wash them separately so as not to stain other garments. Always read and follow label directions.
